What’s been going on?

Well sometimes this job can really sweep you up.

I am going to try harder to get more people to post so that this blog has more than one opinion.

So where has my E-Corps crew been?  We have been delegated the crew to take over the Travis County Reimer’s Ranch ADA trail.  Sweet deal, lots of work.  It will be about 1.5 miles when it is done.  It will share the beautiful Reimer’s landscape with a whole new group of people.  Anyone will be able to push their strollers, roll their chairs, and use their canes to see some of the most beautiful wildflowers, Perdenales River overlooks, and wildlife that the area has to offer. It’s a lot of work, but knowing that it will open up this beautiful piece of land to so many helps you see the end product a little more.

It’s hard.  The trail has a lot of work that has been done and still needs to be done.  Most of the work comes from the rocky Moonscape terrine that we have to dig 8″ into in order to make it ADA code.  In the Texas Hill Country, known for thin soil, our work means moving lots of rocks.  Tons of rocks.  I think I spent at least 3 days last week just picking up rocks.  But picking up rocks is a lot more interesting when you find a surprise under each one.  What did I find?  Millipedes, centipedes, scorpions, spiders, ants, queen ants, and all different creepy crawlers in all sizes, sometimes really really big.  Wildlife really keeps this job interesting.  Snakes and Jackrabbits and lizards litter the week with interesting moments to remember and cherish.
