Haiku’s from Bastrop State Park

The turkey foot trail
at Bastrop State Park we hike
Touching up the paths
Quality control
cutting brush from the trail
clearing burnt debri
With an ax we chop
Through fallen trees big and small
Left hand swings need work
Lots of Hand Saw use
taught the crew to sharpen
Want to fix them all
Heard in the distance
chainsaws running cutting logs
Swampers help them out
Breaking in our boots
Our feet are worn and blistered
Moleskin does its job
The nights have been warm
The days are hot and humid
Faces dripping sweat
The struggle is real
Our muscles sore and tired
Trail work at its finest
